Building a Community of Future Educators

Developing teaching excellence across the EULiST alliance

Future Educator: Today is an EULiST initiative designed to support the professional development of university teachers and strengthen collaboration across our alliance. By bringing together educators from different countries, disciplines, and institutions, the programme creates unique opportunities to exchange experiences, explore emerging trends in higher education, and develop new approaches to teaching and learning.

Innovating Higher Education Together

Organized as a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), the initiative combines online collaboration with an intensive in-person experience. The programme focuses on student-centred learning and addresses how higher education can best respond to the needs and expectations of today’s students, including Generation Z.

During the sessions, participants explore key topics such as:

1. Contemporary learning environments and constructive alignment
2. Course design and innovative pedagogical approaches
3. Artificial intelligence in education
4. Teaching strategies that promote student engagement and active learning

More than Professional Development

Beyond thematic content, Future Educator: Today serves as a vibrant platform for building lasting connections across EULiST. Participants form professional networks, exchange best practices, and identify new avenues for future academic collaboration.

To date, two successful editions have been delivered, each bringing together around 60 participants from across the alliance. Building on this positive momentum and feedback, a new course focusing on Sustainability in Higher Education is currently in development.
